4 Loading Capacity Categories:

The British standards have established four distinct categories to ensure the safety and stability of mezzanine floor loading capacity.

  • The first category pertains to mezzanines designed for office use, with a maximum weight limit ranging between 2.5 and 3.5 kilo-newtons per square metre.
  • Moving on, the second category covers light industrial use, which includes small workstations, storage spaces, and light machinery. The maximum load permitted in this category is 4.8 kilo-newtons per square metre.
  • The third category addresses medium industrial use, encompassing applications such as manufacturing and testing facilities, large vehicles, and bulk materials. The maximum load allowed in this category is 7.5 kilo-newtons per square metre.
  • Lastly, the fourth category focuses on heavy industrial use. This category includes heavy-duty applications like large foundries and production facilities, bulk material storage, and power plant utilities. The maximum load permitted in this category is 9.6 kilo-newtons per square metre.
